Is Laser Teeth Whitening For You?

What person does not want a whiter and brighter smile? Most people do as there is nothing better than a beautiful smile. It helps a person exhibit a better and stronger self confidence. A whiter smile lights up the face. Laser teeth whitening is an innovative and cost effective way to make a smile nicer and whiter. Why not give it a try?

To begin the whitening process, it is completed in a dental office by a professional hygienist with the help of the dentist. Initially a cleaning will start the whitening process. Plaque along the gumline will be removed. Upon completion of the cleaning, a gel is applied to the teeth. This gel is special as it has a peroxide base. This professional strength gel helps the laser make the teeth the whitest they can be.

The next step in the whitening process is the gel is activated by a special light. This light makes the gel work and actually in about an hour can take the teeth about ten shades whiter. In extreme cases in which teeth are stained by antibiotics, the procedure may need to be repeated. Costs vary for the procedure but a person can expect to pay approximately $500 to $1000 depending on the location.

Creating a whiter smile is not difficult. It takes about an hour to have laser teeth whitening. The process is simple and can be completed at the dental office. Teeth can be whitened up to ten shades and a person will notice a difference upon leaving the dental office. The whitening will last for some time. A person needs to follow some easy rules like not smoking or drinking teas and coffees that may shorten the results. Family and friends will notice the person with increased confidence as their smile is whiter and brighter.

Put Up and Shut Up

It has been estimated that almost half of all people snore at one time or another. Yet, nothing can kill a good night sleep faster than snoring, especially for those who have to share the same bed or room with an offender. A major complaint among married couples, snoring can affect their love lives, as well as cause both partners to feel a significant amount of irritability with one another. In addition, some medical reports have stated that there is a definite relationship between the risk of strokes as well as heart attacks and loud snoring, surmised by evidence that it can disturb the blood cells in the ceratoid artery nearest to air passages in the body (a major known cause of the disease know as atherosclerosis).

For some individuals, a moderate change in lifestyle such as losing weight and stop drinking any kind of alcoholic beverages before going to bed may help. Other people may even find that learning how to sleep on their side rather than on their back and/or a change in the type of pillows (particularly if they are made from non-allergic materials) may do the trick.

While surgery has been used to cure snoring in extreme cases, less severe snoring can often be cured with the simple solution of wearing a chin snoring strap to bed. Specially created to stop snoring chin straps are made in such a way as to gently keep the mouth shut by cradling the jaw shut. While they may not be that pretty to look at, they are certainly a lot more comfortable than mandibular splints used by dentists to pull a patient’s tongue forward in an attempt to control their snoring. Stop snoring chin straps are also readily available over-the-counter as well as online, whereas the splints require prescriptions.

Top diet mistakes

Dieting mistakes are very common, and chances are you have also made a few dieting mistakes of your own. They may have caused your diet progress harm and they may also have caused you to have adverse side effects or an unsafe diet journey. But today, we are here to point out those diet mistakes and to make sure that they are corrected.

1. Skipping breakfast

Make sure that you eat first thing in the morning and make it a big and healthy breakfast consisting of lean protein, whole grain carbs, healthy fats and fruit or vegetables. Skipping breakfast will lead to your metabolism being slowed down, so don’t ever skip breakfast.

2. Eating 3 or less meals

Eating 3 or less meals is not enough to keep you full all day. And the less frequently you eat, the higher the chance that your metabolism will slow down. Rather have 6 small meals more often and it will keep you full all day while also boosting your metabolism.

3. Fad dieting

Fad diets slow the metabolism down significantly as the body thinks that a famine is on the way. That makes it very difficult to lose weight in the long run. So try to go on healthy and balanced diets and avoid fad dieting.

4. Avoiding carbs

Avoiding carbs will make you hungry, tired and cranky. We all need healthy carbs to supply us with energy and to make us full. The trick is to know what good carbs to include and what bad carbs to avoid. Good ones include whole wheat carbs, brown pasta and rice and baby and sweet potatoes.

5. Restricting calories severely

It may help you lose weight quickly and soon, but in the long term it will make it difficult for you to lose weight. This is because there is a severe calorie restriction. Rather go on a diet where the calories are balanced.

6. Eating very little fat

We all need fats to keep full, alert and happy. You should avoid the bas fats (saturated) and eat plenty of the good fats the unsaturated ones.

7. Converting back to old eating habits

Don’t go back to your old eating patterns once the diet is over – it will only make you pick up weight. Rather make sure that you still eat healthy when your diet is over.

When you overate

Don’t stress when you overate. Just counter it with doing lots of exercise to burn off the excess calories. You have to do weight training and cardio. The power squat rack will help you with weight training and the home treadmill will help you with cardio.

Now that all these dieting mistakes are uncovered and rectified, you will be less likely to fall in their traps. Just remember them the next time you go on a diet. If you need to speed up your weight loss, do some regular exercise to burn the excess calories off. Just stay motivated, dedicated and never give up.

Natural and Herbal Remedies for Gout

Instead of using expensive prescription medications for gout which often have side effects, many people prefer using natural and herbal remedies for gout. Not only are these herbal remedies effective, they are also inexpensive and do not have the side effects that the prescription medications have.

When a person has gout, uric acid crystals build up in the body’s tissues and joints. As part of any natural remedy for gout, you should drink plenty of water, and include fresh vegetables and fruits in your daily diet. Daily exercise is also important. Foods high in vitamin C such as oranges, green peppers and broccoli can help lower the body’s uric acid levels, as can foods that are high in flavonoids, such as cherries and grapes. A tablespoon of black cherry juice concentrate mixed with a cup of water, taken three times a day is often particularly effective at reducing the pain caused by gout.

Teas made from herbs are also effective as a remedy for gout. A tea made from one cup of water steeped for an hour with one teaspoon dried nettle is an effective herbal remedy for gout. Strain the tea after steeping it, and drink up to four cups daily for the best effect.

If you are having a severe attack of gout, you can either take up to four 500 mg capsules of horsetail three or four times a day until the attack subsides, or make a tea from horsetail. To make the tea, add one tablespoon of dried horsetail to a cup of boiling water, steep for twenty minutes, and then strain. Horsetail tea can be taken three times a day until the gout attack subsides.

Celery seed is also effective at helping the body rid itself of waste, as well as helping to cleanse the blood. Celery seed can be used in food preparation, or you can steep the seeds in boiling water for five to ten minutes to make a tea. This liquid can also be used in soups. Natural remedies for gout are inexpensive and effective.

Juice Recipes for Phytochemicals

Phytochemicals (greek for ‘plant chemicals’) are a group of antioxidants found in plants, that can protect us from disease. They are not classified as nutrients essential for health like vitamins and minerals, but as non-nutritive (but health promoting) plant chemicals. Phytochemicals are also the substances that provide the variety of colors in plants.

Beta-carotene
Beta-carotene is the most well known phytochemical of the carotenoid family. It is also the plant pigment that puts the orange color in carrots, sweet potatoes and mangoes. Research shows that those who eat a daily portion of foods containing beta-carotene are considerably less likely to develop heart disease.

Lutein and Zeaxanthin
Lutein and zeaxanthin, just like beta-carotene, are phytochemicals of the carotenoid family. They are both found abundantly in dark leafy vegetables such as spinach and kale. As antioxidants they help to protect the eyes, and especially the retina, from the damaging effects of free radicals. Research shows that a regular intake of lutein and zeaxanthin considerably reduces our risk of developing eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Anthocyanins
Anthocyanins are the famous blue/purple plant chemicals that contribute to the heart health benefits of red wine. They are found abundantly in purple grapes, blueberries and the recently famed super fruit the Acai Berry. Anthocyanins help create more structurally solid blood vessels by aiding vitamin C in the production of collagen – a glue like substance that literally holds us together. The benefits of ‘better built’ blood vessels include a reduced risk of developing atherosclerosis and relief from hemorrhoids.

Lycopene
The wonderfully red plant pigment that gives tomatoes their vibrant color, lycopene is also found in watermelon and red peppers. One of the major researched health benefits of lycopene is its anticancer properties. People who live in areas of the world that consume a lot of tomatoes and have high blood levels of lycopene and are at far less risk of developing cancers. Especially lung, stomach, bladder, skin, and prostate cancers.

Here are some juicing recipes you can make at home that are great sources of various phytochemicals.

Aside from over the counter remedies, there are also acne medications which are classified as traditional, homeopathic and herbal solutions. Poker root and Echinacea are some great examples of herbal acne solutions. These elements have anti-inflammatory properties which are perfect for blackhead removal and eliminating whiteheads.

Homeopathic medications on the other hand are used for treating severe forms of acne. Those who suffer from boils and pustules on the face, neck and back are treated with homeopathic medications such as kalibrom. Ingestion of selenium is also recommended by many experts. This is intended for people with pustules, blackheads, whiteheads and oily skin.

As for the traditional methods, you can make a paste out of fresh methi or fenugreek leaves and rose water. This can be applied onto the face and then rinsed the following morning. You can also combine lime juice with honey and apply it onto the affected part of the skin.
