Toe Strength for Vertical Jump

The usual vertical jump workout focuses on areas of the body that you need most when jumping. These are your legs, thighs and abdomen. Besides strengthening them, such workouts aim to improve the fast twitch muscles within them for a more explosive movement. In basketball, vertical jump is as important as running so a lot of athletes aim to improve their verticals. However, most workouts focus only on these parts of the body and leave the rest out. One part that is commonly taken for granted, although it participates just as much as any other part of the body used in jumping, is the foot – specifically, the toes.

Why are the toes important whenever you would jump? Imagine yourself leaping into the air whether you are from a stationary position or you are running towards a goal. In both situations, the toes are the last to touch the ground. Therefore, the toes will also be the last part of your body to have the chance to exert force and effort in sending your muscles the signal to perform better. That is why in strength exercises, toe strength should also be undergone. This way, you have better chances of sending more force throughout your muscles during the last second before you go airborne.

While it is true that there are some parts of the body that work more than the others in doing specific programs, it is also true that you have to give proper training to every part of the body contributing to the movement if you want to get maximum results. The toes are commonly neglected but if you look closely, the toes give the most impact and the final push usually depends on it in your every jump. A good workout plan will not only make you practice all the main players but will also focus on the minor ones for the best results.

Tips on Learning to Snowboard

As you begin to get into the sport, your friends will undoubtedly give you many tips on learning to snowboard. One of the best tips that they can give you is to lose your fear of falling.

To do this, you have to resign yourself to the fact that your are going to fall. No ifs’, ands, and buts about it. So just accept it. Once you accept it, you can then practice on learning how to fall the right way. This mostly involves learning to relax, especially your legs.

If you can train your legs to be relaxed, you’ll not only hurt yourself less when you fall, but you’ll actually fall less. The sooner you master falling gracefully, the sooner you can move on to learning to actually balance yourself on the snowboard.

Transformers 2 Toys – The Range Of Action Figures

Transformers 2 Toys Deluxe ClassWith around 8 assorted types of Transformer figures to decide between, the range can be very confusing. They each transform from vehicle to robot form, other than the Robot Replicas which are only poseable, and the Robot Heroes which are small and chunky and come in two pack sets. The others alter in size and difficulty of the transformation steps needed as follows. The littlest figures are the Robot Heroes being only 5cm tall. Next come the Legends at 7cm high. For portability the Scouts at 14cm are a great size. For a popular choice in the range, have a look at the 19cm Transformers Deluxe figures which include a missile. The Fast Action Battlers have a much less complicated transformation process than the Deluxe edition for that size of figure. For a bigger figure you can choose between the Voyagers at 28cm or the Leaders at 30cm.

How to Get the Right Ski Equipment

If you’ve been skiing for a few years, you understand how, unlike some other sports, having the right equipment really does make a huge difference. People new to skiing might only have knowledge of the skiing equipment that they’ve rented, which usually isn’t the best equipment out there. For example, getting boots fitted for your feet is a huge advantage and it makes skiing easier for sure.

When you spend good money on skiing equipment, you want to make sure it lasts. I’ve found that when you buy cheap ski equipment, that’s what you get – cheap ski equipment. I’ve had much more success with good equipment that was a few bucks more because I enjoyed it more, it performed better and lasted much longer.

More helpful tips on ski equipment can be found at The Original Source.

Up Your Tennis Game With the Right Equipment

If you want to be able to improve your game without needing to have someone practice with you, then you may want to get one of those tennis ball machines. Much of being able to execute the perfect forehands or backhands really comes down to how well you condition your body through repetitive motion to hit those shots. The more perfect shots you hit, the faster those swings will become second nature to you. Having a partner is great but you swings won’t be as consistent since there is a lot of chance for error. With a machine, it’s consistent. Once you improve your game then you will want to mix it up by playing different people but in the beginning, a tennis ball machine is the best way to up your tennis game.

Pick Up Your Favorite Team’s Hockey Jersey Before the Season Starts

It’s almost that time of the year again. Hockey season is just around the corner and you’re probably trying to score tickets to your favorite hockey team’s home games. For me, I’ve been trying to get Boston Bruins tickets for three weeks but all of the games have been sold out so far. What a bummer! Luckily there is still something hockey related I can spend my money on before the opening game: hockey jerseys.

If you can’t go to the opening game at the stadium the next best thing is donning a hockey jersey and heading out to your nearest pub or sports bar to watch it on television with the guys (or girls, if you know any who are into it.) Wearing the hockey jersey will make you stand out as a fan and show everyone which team you cheer for. It’ll make a great conversation starter if you happen to be in a rival town at the time!

Bowflex Ultimate

Bowflex revolutionized the home gym equipment market with its introduction of the power rod design. These power rods provide the resistance instead of weights to the workout. Bowflex has continued to upgrade its home gym offerings and has come up with its Ultimate model in 2007. The Bowflex Ultimate comes in two variants, the XTLU and the XLU versions. The XTLU is a bit bigger with a dimension of 6 feet’ 11″ in height, 8′ 2″ length, and 4′ 2″ in width. The XLU, on the other hand, measures the same except for the length which is 5’ 10”. But whichever variant is chosen, the user can be assured of some serious training from these machines. Included in both versions are a lat tower with an angled bar to help build back and shoulder muscles. There is a low pulley/squat station for building glutes, hamstrings, and quads. In addition, a leg extension/curl station is incorporated in the design for developing muscular legs.
