There is a common misconception out there that the cheaper the food is, the less healthy it is for you. This is actually not the case, in fact, the exact opposite is true. Your average family meal will cost you about $70 if you buy from a fast food restaurant or a take away shop. Compare this with about $30 for a home cooked, well balanced meal of meat and vegetables and you may start to understand where I’m coming from.

So many websites out there are screaming ideas on how to get cheap healthy meals, and half of them are absolute nonsense. It takes so little effort that it’s not funny. The biggest hurdle that people have is that they don’t plan ahead. Just sit down with your family for half an hour every week and make a list of seven meals. Armed with this list, you can then start looking for discounts of the ingredients needed, and the rest is buy and cook. Not only will your family’s health benefit, but you will notice a huge drop in the amount of money you are spending on food.
