Anyone can walk into a store and drop a handful of cash on a computer, but those same people drop a close amount on a customized notebook computer.  There are many companies that do customized computers; all you have to do is look a little.  You will want to be careful though, as many will try to give you options for things that are not necessary.  You will want to determine first what you are going to use your notebook for.  You should then be able to determine the features that you will want upgraded, and which you want to keep as the base option.  The most important upgrades will be hard drive space, cpu type/speed, computer memory, graphics card and memory, and optical drive.  A good way to make sure you do not over do the customization is to write down what you want to upgrade, and then stick to that list very strictly.  Follow these ideas and you should be able to get the notebook best suited for your projected use.
