Golf Outerwear – Protection From The Elements

Ladies golf outerwear is often not given the attention it deserves, when a golf wardrobe is being created.  Most all lady golfers like to look their very best, whether on or off the course.  Wearing a stylish well-coordinated outfit is a great way to do this.  Many golfers have several of these outfits, but many times lack the right outerwear for golfing.

The importance of proper golf outerwear should never be over looked.  It is needed in order to provide protection from the sun, cold-weather conditions, windy conditions and drenching rain.  Many of us put much thought into what outfit we will wear, but in terms of protection from the elements we tend to quickly grab a jacket on the way out the door.  Problematic weather conditions can quickly make golfing miserable, if you do not have the proper outerwear.

Is proper outerwear lacking in your golf wardrobe?  Here are some outerwear considerations for a well-rounded wardrobe:

Ladies golf jackets:  A lightweight jacket is needed for days that aren’t exactly cold, but a slight chill seems to be present.  Many times a windbreaker works best for these days and is great to have when the wind picks up.  A rain jacket, or a waterproof jacket, is a must for any golfer.  In fact, you should make it a habit to carry one along in your bag.  In the summer, in particular, quick showers can easily come.  Don’t forget a heavyweight jacket for the cold days.  Some jackets can be found that are made with high performance fabrics that are especially designed to combat certain weather elements.  The price may be higher for these jackets, but most people find the extra cost is well worth it. A performance jacket certainly is a much-desired item of ladies golf attire.

Ladies head wear: The type of protection needed will, of course, depend upon weather conditions.  For cloudy days a visor works well.  When the sun is brightly shining, then a cap is a good choice.  It is best to wear items that have been designed for cold weather conditions on days when the weather is cold, such as a knitted cap or beanie.   For the ladies who will not wear something on their heads, then consider using a styling aid or hairspray with SPF protection to help protect your hair.  Don’t overlook the importance of protecting your head.  Proper head wear protection needs to be considered an essential part of ladies golf outerwear.

The position that you are in when cycling is a rather unusual one and as such requires clothing to be made that is suitable for sustaining a cycling position for a long period of time. No other sporting jacket will really suffice for cycling for the reason mention above – its position is unique, perhaps rowing may come a close second but rowing involves much more upper body movement than cycling. A cycling jacket should have a long back to stop it riding up in cooler weather, long sleeves with Velcro adjustable cuffs to tighten around gloves and a deep collar that can be tightened to keep drafts out. This article on cycling jackets discusses further the features that you should look for when buying cycling jackets.
